  • Needs a broader view

Stop providing a platform for racism. Recent guest Alan Kohler should stay in his lane, talk about economics not spout Islamophobia. It would be great if the ABC could provide quotes from Iranian, Lebanese and Palestinian leadership groups. Considering the diversity of the population in Australia including Arab Australians. I find that this is quite racist having such a one dimensional view of western and Isreali leaderships and continues a narrative that Arabs are the combined evil. When clear... more

When clearly there is evil in leadership across the western nations also. Disappointing Australian reporting. It’s almost like the ABC is just a... more

  • The ABC and their Obsession with Trump

Unfortunately the ABC continues with their Trump obsession. I even wrote to them to provide feedback that Australians do not want to hear so much US news and the Director defended their Trump obsession stating that from their survey channels Aussies were asking for more. I don’t believe that for a second. Sam Hawley comes across as very ditzy when talking about serious topics.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Will Trump 'blink first' and end the war?
Q: Well, Nate, what's your assessment? Do both parties want an off-ramp at this point? And is there actually an off-ramp that can be offered up?
Both sides reportedly want an off-ramp, and there are an array of potential options, including arrangements to ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open, combined with partial sanctions relief and a phased approach to nuclear issues, though the exact landing zone remains contested and contingent on mutual concessions.
What the shaky Iran ceasefire means for fuel prices
Q: What's your expectation on the security of our fuel supply at this point?
The guest explains that fuel supplies remain in good shape for now, with hope that the reprieve will allow stocks to be replenished and reserves to be maintained; longer-term supply security will depend on how the ceasefire unfolds and how quickly production can be restored.
The 'doomsday' scenario for fuel supply
Q: Will prices return to the levels seen before the war?
Prices are not expected to revert to pre-war levels for at least a year or two; even after the conflict ends, global oil pricing is unlikely to snap back quickly due to lasting supply concerns.
The 'doomsday' scenario for fuel supply
Q: So what does this mean for Australia's fuel security in the near term?
Australia is likely to experience tight supply in the next few weeks, with the crunch time anticipated as the last Middle Eastern crude shipments arrive, and that there's a real risk of fuel being diverted from Australia if diplomatic channels fail.
The President vs the Pope
Q: Should we be worried about Trump's temperament and leadership in the context of the Iran war?
The host and guest discuss that Trump's recent communications show a pattern of impulsivity and a lack of clear strategic planning, which raises concerns about decision-making in a high-stakes conflict.
