  • Needs a broader view

It would be great if the ABC could provide quotes from Iranian, Lebanese and Palestinian leadership groups. Considering the diversity of the population in Australia including Arab Australians. I find that this is quite racist having such a one dimensional view of western and Isreali leaderships and continues a narrative that Arabs are the combined evil. When clearly there is evil in leadership across the western nations also. Disappointing Australian reporting. It’s almost like the ABC is just a... more

  • Trump News Daily

Are we the 53rd State. All we get is news stories about Trump and US. I thought the A in ABC was Australian.

  • The ABC and their Obsession with Trump

Unfortunately the ABC continues with their Trump obsession. I even wrote to them to provide feedback that Australians do not want to hear so much US news and the Director defended their Trump obsession stating that from their survey channels Aussies were asking for more. I don’t believe that for a second. Sam Hawley comes across as very ditzy when talking about serious topics.

  • More Aus news please

I get it - Trump is an idiot and has a major impact on the world, but this is getting ridiculous with how many episodes are focused on America. Can we hear more about Australia?

  • Independent and impartial? If it’s IDF approved

Listened for over 20 years to ABC podcasts. But how quickly they were able to bow to a foreign government is quite frankly scary. Antoinette Latouf was fired for sighting a human rights watch article in her spare time.

They say they got to do better but I never hear Palestinian voices when they are part of the news and it’s almost like all Jewish Australians support the IDF. I know that’s not true.

Don’t listen. Look for independent journalists.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Should neo-Nazis be banned from protesting?
Q: Josh, let's start by discussing this protest outside the New South Wales Parliament. What was going on?
Josh explains that a neo-Nazi group demonstrated with anti-Semitic slogans outside Parliament; police judged the protest permissible under current laws, though concerns were raised about safety and rhetoric that could incite hatred, leading to discussions about whether existing laws were enough to prevent such demonstrations in the future.
Is Bondi the start of a new era of terror?
Q: So are you worried that we're in a new era of terrorism here in Australia, or is this likely to be a rare one-off event?
The era is indeed shifting toward more diverse and diffuse threats, which means authorities must remain vigilant and adaptable, but this does not imply inevitability of repeated large-scale attacks; it highlights the importance of sustained public cooperation and strengthening resilience.
Is Bondi the start of a new era of terror?
Q: Lydia, I want to talk about what is proven to be effective when it comes to preventing and responding to terrorism.
Key proven elements include robust intelligence sharing, early identification of threats, rapid response protocols, and targeted interventions to disrupt radicalization, combined with ongoing evaluation of prevention programs to ensure they work across diverse threat landscapes.
After Iran and Venezuela, is Cuba next for Trump?
Q: What might happen if Russia's oil shipments reach Cuba or if the U.S. Navy gets involved in blocking them?
There are scenarios where Russian oil could ease the energy crisis, but the involvement of external powers risks a broader confrontation and complicates internal Cuban dynamics, potentially causing street unrest or geopolitical retaliation depending on how events unfold.
After Iran and Venezuela, is Cuba next for Trump?
Q: Can Trump really do what he did in Venezuela in Cuba, and would that help the Cuban people in the end?
The guest argues that Cuba's political and security structures are far more entrenched than Venezuela's, making a comparable regime-change outcome unlikely; any intervention could worsen instability and hardship forCubans, with the regime likely to resist and adapt rather than be toppled abruptly.
