  • Peaks and troughs

Aside from Alan, the show would benefit from more analysis and less waffle - it was 3:20 of the episode ‘Who will benefit from the budget’ before any mention of policy…

  • Terrific stuff

Never written a review, never listened to a podcast, wary of all podcasts as they’re essentially advertising platforms with no end leading to dilution. This is far from the case - genuine experts with a genuine need for continuous communication and more value for taxpayers. Love it.

  • Completely mixed bag

I subscribed to this for the deep dives by Alan Kohler but picked up the rest of this on the same feed.

Alan is a master communicator which is rare for business presenters.

Most are wooden, or try to insert too much information, or oversensationalise.

The rest of the business and finance team at the ABC are well intended but barely listenable and would do well to study why Alan rates so well. It’s media school 101.

  • Perfect

Carrington Clarke’s sonorous voice and sultry undertones give me the strength to keep goin, and I would happily submit to sacrifice by fire in honor of his longevity. ABC Business Daily is the only reason I’ve started wearing a seatbelt to work.

Inside a coconut water empire
Q: So what did you think would happen? Did you think you'd end up with a hundred million dollar business?

The government seeks to attract investment on clear conditions, ensuring creators retain control of their work and that data centers meet environmental and community obligations, aligning investment with national standards.
Jim Chalmers on Australia’s AI balancing act
Q: Does the PM's speech suggest that the government has woken up to the dangers of AI and is going to take more active steps?
Chalmers explains that the speech builds on existing AI work, moving from groundwork to concrete next steps, including standards and a centralized approach under the PM, to seize opportunities while addressing risks.
Ampol on fuel security after Hormuz
Q: What is Ampol's plan for EV charging and how does it fit with the fuel business?
Ampol is expanding its EV charging network, aiming for broad coverage beyond forecourts, with accelerated charging times and strategic site selection; margins are lower but demand and network utilization are growing, supported by data-driven location planning.
Ampol on fuel security after Hormuz
Q: How is Ampol addressing the aging Lytton refinery and ensuring long-term viability?
He notes the refinery is 60 years old, requires substantial investment, and that government support is necessary to enable a multi-decade investment plan; they are in discussions to set a framework that sustains the refinery long term.
