  • Guest Microphones

Are multiple guests sharing one microphone? It sounds like some are running up to the mic while talking, starting sentences very weak. The information is invaluable and I’d hate to miss something for someone not talking directly into the mic. Keep up the good work!

  • Great Podcast

As a new hire and someone coming from the military with no 121 experience these have been an awesome resource already for me. This has been a great reference to not only what the ALPA does for me, but offers a glimpse behind the curtain in how the union operates and what they are doing with negotiations. Well worth the listen.

  • Very informative

I’d been reading about these in the emails but put off listening until today. Let me say wow, these are really informative, well made, and just a high quality podcast. I’ve listened to half of them while deadheading around. Summer survival and Fatigue ones were valuable resources. The Mother’s Day one was shocking to hear how rough the conditions are for our pilot mothers.

    Keep up the great work

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

E75: Quick Slips, Scheduling Shenanigans, and How We Got Here: A Roadmap Through the Chaos
Q: How will Quick Slips interact with existing coverage ladders and 23M7 payouts?
If scheduling uses Quick Slips, 23M7 payouts will still occur for those pilots who would have otherwise been paid under the old system; Quick Slips are a mandatory step that cannot be bypassed, and they replace the need to jump straight to inverse assignment in most cases.
E75: Quick Slips, Scheduling Shenanigans, and How We Got Here: A Roadmap Through the Chaos
Q: What message do you want to send to pilots about the rollout of Quick Slips?
Quick Slips are designed to restore seniority and order to trip coverage, replacing much of the inverse assignment chaos with a clear, single-award window mechanism that aligns with ARCOS, while preserving 23M7 pay where applicable.
E73: Security You Can't Ignore: KCM Realities, Layover Risks, and Staying Safe
Q: What is the deal with FFDO training?
The current FFDO training is on hold due to factors like the government shutdown, but classes are slated for the year and spots are available.
E73: Security You Can't Ignore: KCM Realities, Layover Risks, and Staying Safe
Q: What's your advice for pilots who have an issue with either a TSO or with the random, maybe the screening?
There are options like complying with screening and filing a complaint through DART. You can withdraw your consent if you encounter aggressive screening.
E70: Ask ALPA
Q: What one question do you have for your MEC?
Questions ranged from rerouting policies to negotiation strategies and parental leave maximization.
