Q: What factors do program directors look for when evaluating applicants for IR?
Commitment to IR demonstrated through CV elements like IR research, away rotations, IR-specific leadership, letters of recommendation, and early engagement in IR activities, plus strategic actions such as starting an IR club and pursuing IR-related outreach and research.
Episode 171: Dr. Daniel Veyg, D.O. - Integrated Interventional Radiology Resident, This is the Way!
Q: Can you tell us about how a medical student might become an interventional radiologist?
Two main pathways exist: the integrated IR residency which combines DR training with IR into one six-year program, and the diagnostic radiology route with an ESIR year that converts the final year of DR into a mini IR fellowship, followed by a year of independent IR residency. Both paths require IR-specific experiences, research, and strong CVs for a successful match.

Q: Do you foresee that this new DO school will be affordable compared to other osteopathic schools, and how might financing work as a state-supported institution?
She outlines how state funding and integration within a public university framework provide more favorable financial aid and loan options, with plans to keep tuition lower than the median and expand public financial aid through the existing university structure.
Episode 170: Dr. Miko Rose, D.O.- Is it Crazy to start a new DO school in Pensylvania? To call the school Indiana University? This Psychiatrist begs to differ!
Q: Miko, how did you decide on psychiatry and then tell us a little bit about your application process to that?
She explains a shift from intended primary care to psychiatry during residency, driven by experiences with patients' trauma, and shares how an unexpected opening at Michigan State allowed her to transition into psychiatry, shaping her career.
