  • The Best Medicine

The principles of WCI are the best medicine for physician burnout. With all due respect to wellness talks, yoga and meditation, taking charge of your finances is by far the most beneficial burnout buster. Dr. Dahle and the WCI team will show you the simple steps necessary to control your financial life rather than having money problems control you. Burned out physicians, you need this podcast and WCI in general.

  • Great insight

This is a wonderful podcast with a lot of information and isn’t long a drawn out like other finance podcast.s. Please keep giving us episodes with other providers and healthcare support like the most recent with a anesthesia assistant. As a non physician healthcare provider, I came out of school with six figures in debt and not a $400k shovel. Let’s hear from more of us who also wear white coats! Great show!!!!

  • I was so angry but then…

For the first 10 years of my career after finishing Internal Medicine

WCI #469: Real Estate Investing Mistakes Doctors Should Avoid
Q: Hi Dr. Dahle, I'm looking for some insight regarding a home purchase strategy. Is a physician mortgage the right move for someone with a high income but not yet at 20% down?
Yes, a physician mortgage can be a good option to avoid PMI and preserve cash flow, especially if you can comfortably manage debt service and plan to refinance later. The key is to understand rate terms, potential ARM risk, and to avoid overextending yourself if you expect to stay in the home for a long time.
MtoM #273: A Doctor's Plan to Eliminate $800K in Student Loans
Q: What factors led you to choose a Caribbean medical school, and what have you learned about the match process and debt from that experience?
Tommy recounts naive decision to attend St. George's University, the high total debt from medical school, and insightful discussion of match rates, compatibility of the school with PSLF, and the realities of pursuing high-earning specialties after Caribbean training.
MtoM #273: A Doctor's Plan to Eliminate $800K in Student Loans
Q: Tell us a little bit more about you. Where you're at in your career, what part of the country you live in, how far you are out of training, what you do for a living, et cetera.
Tommy explains he's four years out of residency with a spouse who's also a physician; they live in the Boston area after training in Arkansas, and they're focused on balancing debt repayment with family life, investing for the future, and pursuing PSLF for his loans.
MtoM #270: PSLF Success Story: $500K+ Forgiven
Q: Tell us what milestone we're celebrating with you today.
Frank explains that the milestone is paying off or getting forgiveness for his student loans through PSLF, and achieving a substantial net worth swing despite a rocky start, aided by careful documentation, government program rules, and family support.
MtoM #271: Dual Physician Couple Pays Off $527K Student Loans in One Year
Q: What was the process? What did you do?
They described funneling almost all post-expense income into a high-yield savings fund dedicated to paying off the loans, delaying retirement contributions during the payoff year, and only later resuming investment and retirement saving after the debt was eliminated.
