  • Hard Pass

I wanted to learn more about finance this year and came across this podcast. I have a little finance knowledge but thought this would help me learn even more now that I’m out of residency. I’ve always found the advice a little off but the Bitcoin episode was littered with falsities including saying NVIDIA trades on the S&P. That’s a rookie mistake. I’ll be seeking finance advice elsewhere.

Jimmy Changes Jobs (Academics to Private Practice)
Q: Are there other differences in job expectations kind of crossing the chasm going to the private practice side of things?
Private practice is expected to have more breadth while academics have more depth. There would be adjustments in the types of procedures performed compared to the previous role at the academic institution.
Jimmy Changes Jobs (Academics to Private Practice)
Q: What led you to look for a job in the first place and what were the constraints or what was on your list for things you're looking for?
I was considering a change due to corporate consolidation in healthcare, dissatisfaction with changes in benefits, and a preference to not move my kids. Key requirements included maintaining a reasonable commute, financial stability, good practice culture, and not moving for my job.
Neurodivergence, Money, and Luxury Cruising with Dr. Krystal Sodaitis
Q: What gets you excited about starting your podcast on luxury cruising?
It was a passion project I had that allowed me to share my enthusiasm for luxury cruising and interview others about their experiences.
Investing locally, non-competes, and inheritances
Q: Is there a case to be made for investing more locally?
Yes, while index funds are academically supported for diversification, community investments can align more with personal values and support local economies.
Is Your Emergency Fund Too Big (Updated)?
Q: What's a reasonable framework for a high-income household to think about emergency fund sizing and placement?
Discuss common ground and understand liquidity options beyond just cash savings, considering peace of mind vs. financial strategy.
