  • I love listening to an audio on the topic of SDIRA’s. I had no idea this was even an option and love that Matt and Mark take the time to discuss real life examples of what is possible as alternative ways of diversifying your retirement portfolio.

  • Better explanation

I really like the content and strategies they discuss. However, they often leave out one major detail, that you can’t move your current employer 401k money into a self-directed IRA account, which is often times where most of your retirement money is. Ultimately making all the strategies they’re discussing irrelevant.

  • Just another salesman podcast

Every 5 minutes these guys are just pitching you on their services. I educated myself on how to do this and was looking for a podcast that would talk about all the creative ways people are using these investment tools. But sadly they just ramble on and fluff up their services and make it seem your doing it wrong if you go anywhere else.

Schwab offers this now but their just going to tell you to not go their too.

  • Great tips but ….

Overall the information is excellent, but the constant unnecessary banter and jokes is extremely frustrating. It’s kind of like being in a really great class in school with a 12-year-old boy who keeps making stupid jokes and you just want him to shut up and let the teacher explain. I listened to one podcast that was 10 rules on disallowed transactions and it was 45 minutes, because there was so much unnecessary dribble. I can’t figure out why they do this. Is their audience this undereducate... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Open Forum Q&A
Q: Not technically, can you combine a 401(k) with an IRA to make one IRA?
You cannot combine them into one account since an IRA and a 401(k) are different types of accounts; you can roll an IRA into a 401(k) under certain conditions, and traditional IRAs can be rolled into a 401(k) but Roth IRAs cannot; you can move money between them in many ways but not merge them into a single account.
Open Forum Q&A
Q: If you move funds from a traditional IRA to a self-directed Roth, will that cause a tax event?
A Roth conversion is a taxable event; you pay income tax on the converted amount in the year of the conversion, but it allows future gains to be tax-free; the tax is reported on a 1099 after the year ends.
Open Forum Q&A
Q: What are the all-in annual costs, the custodian fees, transaction fees and things like that?
The fees are structured as three main charges: a $50 account establishment fee, a $4.95 annual custodial/admin fee per account, and a $50 processing fee each time funds are deployed for an investment; there can be small additional fees like for wire transfers, but the core costs are these three items.
Crypto Market Reset: What To Do Now
Q: What role does the Arch Algo play in prudent crypto investing?
The Arch Algo is described as a free, modular toolbox that helps allocate and reallocate capital, automate entries and exits, and manage cost bases, enabling disciplined, rule-based investing and yield harvesting within a retirement account.
Crypto Market Reset: What To Do Now
Q: How can self-directed IRA holders leverage crypto tax-advantaged accounts to maximize returns?
By using Roth IRAs, crypto-specific products, and automated strategies, investors can avoid immediate tax implications on gains, allowing compounding to work over long horizons; the speakers highlight the flexibility of moving into crypto within tax-advantaged accounts and the benefits of long-term holding.
