  • Great host

Martin produces a lot of content and unlike many podcasts doesn’t constantly interrupt the shows with advertisements. Tarrick Brooker is my favorite guest. Some other guests are a bit dubious. I think it would be better if DFA split into two podcasts. One for people who like those regular market updates and another for people who only want to listen to the long format discussions and interviews.

  • Curious listener

I started listening to Martin when his data started to get mainstream airtime and his property crash predictions got him even further air time. That was about 5 years ago. Over this time he had made two big predictions of up to 40% price corrections on the back of his data. Both have come to nothing and in fact prices have grown substantially since this time.

For the record there is no problem in making predictions based on mortgage stress, but given it clearly hasn’t resulted in any significan... more

DFA Live Q&A Replay: Playing The Property Game In A Changing World: With Chris Bates
Q: What do you think of the underquoting reforms being introduced in New South Wales and Victoria?
Underquoting is real and should be policed, but implementation will be key; agents and sellers may adapt tactics, while buyers will push back with tools and transparency to better assess value.
Property Rant Special: Caveat Emptor: Is It A Myth In 2026?
Q: What questions should a prospective first-time buyer ask a conveyancer?
Buyers should ask about the conveyancer's role, process, and the journey ahead, including what protections and services the conveyancer provides throughout the property purchase.
Property Rant Special: Caveat Emptor: Is It A Myth In 2026?
Q: What is the role of the conveyancer?
Conveyancers protect consumers by reviewing contracts, advising on risks, and ensuring that all necessary documents are present and valid before a property transaction is completed.
12.3 Million Australian Households Are Living In Economic Armageddon
Q: What challenges are older Australians facing regarding mortgages and retirement?
Many older Australians are finding their superannuation insufficient to cover their mortgages, which may force them onto government pensions.
Schrodinger’s FED
Q: How sustainable is this so-called K-shaped economy, and what are the FED's thoughts on whether that's a risk going forward?
The sustainability of the K-shaped economy is uncertain, but consumption is largely driven by higher income households. Lower income households are tightening their spending due to rising price levels, and asset values are high among wealthier individuals.
