  • Bubble Vory (“thieves-in-law”)

The thing that distinguishes this bubble from past bubbles is this bubble enjoys the TOTAL support of a POTUS manipulating the bubble to grow, adding to this fact the belief of the investing class that Trump will do WHATEVER it takes to keep the Market up while he is in office e.g., sell insider information via Truth Social posts, on again off again tariffs etc….

In short, the investing class believes, rightly or wrongly, it has nothing to lose (i.e., micro-risk) by being in on the joke, mor... more

  • Great guest; poor interviewer

Listen to the ‘Catastrophe’ interview to hear Prof Steve Henke talk about the Iran war and the economy. Henke is a brilliant economist, Lin is a joke as an interviewer, and the professor basically says as much during the interview.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Markets Surge: Where's The Top? Trader On Next Levels For Stocks, Gold | Kevin Steuer
Q: How do you manage uncertainty and decide when to stay in or step back from oil and tech positions?
I rely on a combination of macro indicators (MOVE index, VIX, dollar moves) and sector ETFs to reduce single-name risk; when volatility spikes or geopolitical events threaten supply chains, I use liquidity to rotate into more liquid ETFs and wait for clearer signals, while maintaining exposure to diversified themes like AI, semis, and energy via tested signals.
Markets Surge: Where's The Top? Trader On Next Levels For Stocks, Gold | Kevin Steuer
Q: What has driven the August rebound in risk assets and is it sustainable given ongoing geopolitical risks?
The rebound appears to be a mix of factor rotation, dollar weakness, and hedging behavior; traders are reallocating into tech and energy while maintaining risk controls, with algos highlighting momentum and support levels. Whether it lasts depends on macro signals like inflation expectations, Fed policy, and geopolitical developments, especially in the Middle East and oil markets.
Investor Called Chips Crash, Now Warns ‘We’re Nearing The End’ Of Stock Rally | Jim Welsh
Q: Are you more bullish on stocks now or on gold with the current patterns?
Gold and gold stocks look more compelling in the near term, especially if the dollar strengthens and gold moves to new highs after a pullback.
Investor Called Chips Crash, Now Warns ‘We’re Nearing The End’ Of Stock Rally | Jim Welsh
Q: What would you be doing right now given the current setup in semis and the broader market?
Sell into the semiconductors, look to buy gold and gold stocks on pullbacks, and reduce exposure to the broader S&P as a 4-7% correction seems likely.
Investor Called Chips Crash, Now Warns ‘We’re Nearing The End’ Of Stock Rally | Jim Welsh
Q: For those of us who aren't technical traders, what does weak thrust mean relative to strong thrust?
Weak thrust means momentum to the upside is fading compared with earlier bursts; price can rise but with diminishing internal energy, signaling a higher risk of a near-term top and a possible pullback.
