  • Best Finance Podcast

I don’t typically listen to finance podcasts because of my lack of bandwidth and the fact that I’m already plugged into the market-moving research processes of many top institutional investors around the world.

When I do, however, find time to review finance podcasts, I always start with Thoughtful Money. Adam Taggart has put together the best collection of guests and discussions that I've seen anywhere in the finance podcast ecosystem. The only shows that I think rival what Adam has built are... more

  • Ads wayyyy too loud

While I enjoy some of the guests and opinions expressed, I often have to quit shows early because the ads are two to three times as loud as to content.

  • Faber vs Johnson

Faber made more sense than Johnson on most points…..But I must thank Faber for coming right out and saying it: Trump is a Buffoon. Everybody in the U.S. is afraid to point out the obvious.

Once Trump is gone, nobody will admit to supporting him. The Trump voter will be placed on the endangered species registry.

Actually, Trump will destroy most of Johnson’s argument as to American advantages.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Market Is Dangerously Expensive Now | Kevin Muir
Q: What is your view on the probability and impact of a 'lost decade' for investors?
The panel agrees the probability is high and the consequences could be meaningful, especially given elevated valuations and market concentration; they emphasize defensive positioning and disciplined risk management as prudent strategies rather than assuming a perpetual bull market.
SPECIAL REPORT: Kevin Warsh Announces New Hawkish Era At The Fed | Axel Merk
Q: Will Warsh shrink the balance sheet, and how might that affect markets?
There is skepticism about a rapid shrinkage; Warsh is exploring a balance-sheet review, possibly moving toward a smaller size, but the operational reality and political constraints may slow changes while data and markets adapt.
AI Boom = Commodities Super-Boom? | Tavi Costa
Q: Are we entering a commodities super boom driven by the AI infrastructure buildout?
Yes, the host and guests discuss a durable, multi-year upcycle in hard assets driven by AI-related capex, the need for new supply, and deglobalization that necessitates more domestic production and reliable access to key minerals.
Extreme Valuations + Rising Volatility = 'Wild Ride' Ahead For Markets | Jonathan Wellum
Q: Given the current hype around AI and hyperscalers, how should an investor position themselves?
Focus on high-quality, well-valued companies, diversify across sectors, avoid chasing hype, and consider patient, longer-term allocations to AI beneficiaries while maintaining a disciplined asset mix and readiness to rebalance as valuations normalize.
Extreme Valuations + Rising Volatility = 'Wild Ride' Ahead For Markets | Jonathan Wellum
Q: My big question for you is, what the heck just happened with the market drop and rebound?
The strong US labor market numbers can be interpreted as negative for markets because they reduce the likelihood of near-term rate cuts, raising the odds of continued monetary tightening and volatility; however, the guest argues that a growing private sector with productivity gains should eventually tame inflation and support long-term growth.
