  • Saint!

Bob Rees is a Saint! Be sure to check out the audio interview from July 20, 2023 to hear him tell about his experiences with racism in our Church community, and how we might reconcile and have opportunity for racial redemption.

Thank you to the folks at Dialogue and all who serve to spread this good word. =]

  • Sound quality updated

Updates comments: the audio quality improved for maybe an episode or 2, and now it has that digitally grating noise while the guest is speaking.

I would love to consistently listen to this podcast, but sometimes there is an irritating digital noise when someone is speaking. The episode with Adam McLain is an example of this. Chris kimball was the host. I don’t know what it is, but would love it to addressed.

  • Food for the soul

LaShawn Williams’ is one of the most informative, easy to understand and incredibly powerful speakers I have ever listened to. Her Sunday school lesson #10 was literally a roadmap to our current reality. What an honor it is to listen to her words and truly HEAR HER. I am now listening to her brother’s podcast Beyond The Block, which is also incredibly liberating and informative. I started out listening on the Facebook live feed, but I couldn’t take notes or save my place. I am so grateful fo... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Trauma of Nauvoo: Gospel Study with Benjamin E. Park
Q: Was there a marriage to Fanny Alger?
I don't see Fanny Alger as a plural spouse; I think the theology structured Nauvoo polygamy did not arrive until 1840, making her situation fundamentally different.
Trauma of Nauvoo: Gospel Study with Benjamin E. Park
Q: What role did Joseph's personal trauma play in his practice of polygamy?
Joseph's trauma played a significant role as he attempted to bind familial ties and navigate the complexities of his personal desires while also addressing a theological problem rooted in trauma.
The Powers of Heaven: Gospel Study with Sharlee Mullins Glenn
Q: Is the church capable of moving away from essentialist divides?
The discussion centers on whether churches can address systemic issues through lenses of social construction, without simply inserting women into existing councils.
The Powers of Heaven: Gospel Study with Sharlee Mullins Glenn
Q: How comfortable are you with the idea of more power?
Most would prefer power to be defined as capacity rather than domination, with a significant emphasis on using power for the benefit of others.
AUDIO: Latter-day Saint Art: A Critical Reader with Editors Mason Kamana Allred and Amanda K. Beardsley
Q: What was the most difficult part of the process?
Balancing the desire to help authors without overstepping, while maintaining academic integrity, was the most challenging aspect for me.
