This podcast started out really interesting. Sexual abuse and its sometimes violent coverup is a very serious issue still affecting the RCC. However, the podcast’s creators seem not to understand the potential biases & political motivations of certain supposed “anti abuse” figures still associated with the Catholic Church. Real criminal investigators know It is wrong and dangerously misleading to call the abuse problem a “homosexual abuse” problem, as some of the podcasts guests have alleged. ... more
Gene Gomulka seems to blame “homosexuals” and fails to see that in fact it is the Church’s stance on homosexuality that is indeed the root cause of most of these problems. That’s what moves religious families to push their young boys to go into the priesthood, deny their humanity, and live in shame, and fall prey to confused sexual behavior. It’s not homosexual grooming as he seems to imply. It is the dogma and indoctrination from the church as a whole that leads to all sorts of confused and har... more
I personally knew Father Joe. He was an incredible man. I remember hearing these “rumors” for years through other friends of Father Joe, in real time, as it was happening. We remain heartbroken, as Father Joe’s work was that of an angel. Great podcast and work!! I want to support efforts to find his murderer, who is very likely “serving communion” every Sunday in our community. Why is the DA not re-opening with all this evidence? Can’t wait for your updates and more episodes. Big Fan.
In the right hands this story could be major and could use the assistance in professional investigative journalism to move this case forward. Payne Lindsey comes to mind. The organization of the podcast is disorienting and it feels like too much filler in places of the podcast. Also I feel like the podcasts would be better if the interviews were edited to not include the responses of the hosts and just tell the story and answers of the people being interviewed.
Love this podcast but the wait is starting to get a bit painful between episodes! I have searched everywhere to find new episodes and don’t see a place to write to the creators of this podcast. The investigation and reporting quality is next level, just trying to find out what happened after the last episode aired March 7. Does this mean that was the last episode? I follow the podcast in multiple places and keep checking back to be sure I’m following, in case I’m missing something. It’s been ov... more
