I really enjoyed Seasons 1 & 2. I laughed along and enjoyed the conversations of the ladies. Season 3 so far has just not been for me. The whole victim hood is hard to hear be blamed for everything that went wrong in Kelly’s life. At some point she made her own choices also. I hope this narrative changes at some point because it’s hard to sit through episodes after episode.
I loved the first season of this podcast but I’m not sure I like where it’s gone. In the penultimate episode of season 3, the interviewee says ‘People who have done harm and people who have been harmed - they’re the same people’. So if we take that statement back to the first series, is that what we’re saying about the abusive ex-boyfriend? I get that it’s nuanced, but I don’t really understand what we’re saying here.
So much rambling! The arrogance of Kelly was painful to listen to and the hints of religion? Was that supposed to make listeners sympathetic?
Yes, I heard it all ( long car ride) and was constantly hoping for something that never came
Bad choice for a Girlfriend’s podcast
May not be able to make it through season 3, the "victim" is not even remotely a reliable narrator. Updated after bonus episode 3 to horrible.
Hopefully everyone listening to this is an adult, an initial warning for triggers at the very beginning of the series is more than enough we do not need an extensive rundown of every possibly upsetting item in a podcast that’s inherently about true crime and murder. It’s really patronizing and paternalistic. Otherwise the podcast is great, I do wish you had followed up to find the man Kelly claimed was both her gymnastics teacher and correctional officer as that hit me as very strange, and if sh... more

Exploring the complexities of domestic violence, trauma, and the justice system, this series centers around the life of Kelly Harnett, who was wrongfully convicted for murder after witnessing her abusive boyfriend commit a violent crime. The narrative delves into Kelly's transformation from victim to jailhouse lawyer, as she fights not only for her own freedom but also for the rights of other incarcerated women who have endured similar experiences of abuse. The podcast sheds light on societal perceptions of victims and villains, offering poignant discussions around themes of accountability, resilience, and the quest for justice in a system that often fails women.
