The presenter has a very annoying manner. There wasn’t anything there to the writing either.
Great work! Truly a fascinating story that provokes so many different thoughts and feelings about life and the legacy you leave behind. Much love to David and his family for being so open to share this story.
If so - brilliant. If not, this is the most obnoxious, immature, embarrassing and absurdly biased and un-nuanced / insensitive podcast I have ever heard. The incredibly misogynistic perspective, unwitting hypocrisy and lack of any empathy or intelligent psychological perspective for the main character / ‘villain’ (a 15 year old Southern girl who fallls pregnant) is grotesque. And portraying the protagonist as a ‘con-woman’ and villainizing her with a 6 part podcast on par with the attention se... more
Fine show, not really gripping or thrilling. The way the host says “impor-dent” instead of “important” is so cringey and childish.
The first episodes pull you in, then the last make you cringe. Narrator is incredibly judgmental in her portrayal of Janis, completely ignoring historical context and assuming negative intent with zero evidence to backup claims. Perhaps worse yet, she publishes an interview with said woman who has advanced dementia — as if she had the mental capacity to give informed consent. I rarely post reviews, but was horrified and feel compelled to flag the ethical issues that pervade this show.
