This podcast gave the perfect balance between interesting poetry and the captivating backstory behind each of the countries and poets. Can’t wait to continue the story with Aphra and Gyles.
I’m familiar with the Duke of Kent and his love and support to the former Queen. Sadly, his voice was almost impossible to understand. I’m not being disrespectful of him at all. I was excited to hear his story but could barely make out his words. It made me sad. His service has been extraordinary. more
This podcast introduces wonderful people chatting about interesting lives and introducing us to their poems. A true hidden gem of a podcast. Perhaps when the commonwealth is finished we can explore the rest of the world?
I am not a poetry fan — or at least I didn’t think I was. Turns out I am. Absolutely adore Gyles Brandreth, which is why I started listening. I really enjoy the dynamic between Gyles and Aphra, and have particularly appreciated learning about other Commonwealth countries from their guests. As a Canadian expat in England, I can’t wait until they ‘travel’ to Canada — curious as to who will be the guest!
I love this podcast so much I want more and episodes. Great job both of you and loving the guests you have had on too. Well done. Chris Hannon, Birmingham UK
