Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Laura Smyth & Carmen Butcher
Q: What has the journey been like balancing stand-up, family, and health?
It's been challenging but incredibly rewarding; we lean on gratitude, stay present, and support each other through the ups and downs of touring, parenting, and pursuing creative work.
Laura Smyth & Carmen Butcher
Q: How did you two decide to work together and start your podcast?
We realized we were both on the same wavelength after meeting on a comedy course, and our long voice notes evolved into a podcast where we could be silly and honest about our lives and work.
Benedict & Hannah Townsend (Talk of the Townsends)
Q: What was it like converting a long friendship into a romantic relationship and then a professional partnership?
It was awkward at first and too loaded to force, so we stayed friends, then gradually moved into a relationship and eventually began working together on a podcast about TV we both love, which grew into our full-time collaboration.
Benedict & Hannah Townsend (Talk of the Townsends)
Q: How long have you been married and how did you two meet?
We met at the University of York, clicked straight away, and after years of friendship we got engaged within about nine months of dating and were married two years after that.
Mollie King & Matt Edmondson
Q: What inspired the idea to write a novel together?
They loved games and puzzles, and the idea was to combine their strengths in storytelling and character creation to build a shared world and characters, with each taking turns writing chapters.
