  • Lovely but too many ads

Emily is as chatty and charming as always. However 25 minutes of adverts for a 40 minute podcast is crazy.

  • One of my favourite podcasts

Discovered this podcast late so now have the luxury of being able to choose the one I fancy. Have listened to about 20 so far and they’ve all been great. Loved the one with Adrian Chiles and of course the one with Frank Skinner.

  • In Love

This podcast has helped me so much with creative angst, I could get back to painting again. Emily is such an incredible, fun and gracious person who has a very radio phonic voice as well. I love listening to those unique conversations with her famous guests on the move, I get a vicarious joy of walking from Emily Dean’s podcast while I am currently stuck indoors under the AC in a desert climate. I am so grateful for this podcast has, my dog listens to it too.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Bella Hull (Part Two)
Q: How did Saturday Night Live UK come about for you, and what was that process like?
Bella explains she initially hesitated to apply due to fear of rejection and perfectionism, but eventually submitted sketches after encouragement from her agent Julian, going through a two-sketch packet process and an interview, and recognizing that self-doubt was a major hurdle.
George Fouracres (Part One)
Q: So if someone had come up to you and said, what class are you, George?
Back then I'd say we were the new 90s lower middle class, working class folks who were socially mobile and aspirational, and education opened doors that money alone couldn't always secure.
Sir Ed Davey (Part Two)
Q: Finally, what do you fear people will say about you when you leave a room, and what do you hope they would say?
He hopes people would say he is decent, stands up for his beliefs, and cares about dogs and family; he also wants to be remembered for integrity and effectiveness in serving the public.
Sir Ed Davey (Part Two)
Q: What do people get most wrong about you, Ed?
People underestimate him, and he emphasizes his determination to push back against illiberalism, populism, and extremism, while protecting democracy and British values.
Sir Ed Davey (Part Two)
Q: What was it like working so closely with the Tories, and did you like them?
It felt like a crisis for the country, but there was a belief in doing the difficult job for the public; there were constructive as well as challenging interactions, with some Conservatives whom he could work with and others with whom he fought hard.
