S12 Bonus: The Microsoft File Trap: Moving Beyond Manual PowerPoint and Excel Workflows to Build an AI-Native "Consulting" Layer with Tim Lidman, Co-Founder & CEO of Clyde AI
Q: How do you decide what to build next for Clyde?
We rely heavily on user feedback and analytics, maintaining a product-led growth approach. We conduct weekly conversations with users, quantify value, and prioritize features based on real needs observed in usage and conversations.
S12 Bonus: The Microsoft File Trap: Moving Beyond Manual PowerPoint and Excel Workflows to Build an AI-Native "Consulting" Layer with Tim Lidman, Co-Founder & CEO of Clyde AI
Q: What was a major early mistake, and how did you address it after launch?
We pushed too hard on generating massive amounts of code with AI, which created tech debt. We paused, rolled back, and launched a new Clyde release with a monorepo to clean up the codebase and restore maintainability.
S12 Bonus: The Microsoft File Trap: Moving Beyond Manual PowerPoint and Excel Workflows to Build an AI-Native "Consulting" Layer with Tim Lidman, Co-Founder & CEO of Clyde AI
Q: How long did it take to build the first version of Clyde and what tools did you use to get there?
The private MVP took about three months to build end-to-end using a serverless Google Cloud backend, React on the frontend, and rapid UX prototyping through Vibe Coding, which allowed the team to deliver a usable product quickly and iterate fast.
Developer Chats – Pavel Shchekotov
Q: What did agency years teach you about product development that most engineers never learn?
Agency work taught a deep understanding of translating business problems into technical solutions and the importance of product thinking, which helps avoid narrowly scoped engineering fixes and aligns features with real market needs.
S12 E25: From Processing $500B at Intuit to Building the Fraud-Proof Ledger: Eradicating Financial Misstatement with Ahikam Kaufman, Co-Founder & CEO of Safebooks AI
Q: How do you decide what to build next for Safebooks?
The focus emerged from real customer data and the need to accelerate the close process; the team moved from a toolbox approach to a targeted close automation solution that could be replicated across companies, prioritizing data infrastructure and end-to-end execution.
