  • Devolved into conservative propaganda

I’ve been listening to this podcast for years, and it’s often been full of really great content for someone who works in cutting edge tech.

Lately, however it has become more and more clear that Tseng just wants to platform conservative mouthpieces who are spewing propaganda, rather than caring about moving a technology ecosystem forward. The latest NASA/Artemis episode was trash. Useless propaganda.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The New Rules of Media | Marc Andreessen & Ben Horowitz
Q: What is the central difference between old media and new media as discussed in the episode?
Old media was defense-oriented and constrained by limited channels and formats, while new media is offense-oriented, expansive in formats and channels, and centers on authentic, voice-driven storytelling where the brand is the person. Founders must be relatable and engage directly with audiences.
What’s Next for Consumer AI? | Josh Elman Joins a16z
Q: What lessons can be drawn from Roblox/Minecraft-era communities for AI-native products?
The discussion highlights that communities and ownership matter; users want to tinker, customize, and feel a sense of ownership. Successful AI products will blend tools that get things done with experiences that invite social interaction and group exploration, backed by safe and responsible design.
What’s Next for Consumer AI? | Josh Elman Joins a16z
Q: How should startups think about distribution and growth in this new era?
He argues for a mix of distribution channels: traditional virality and search remain important, but creator ecosystems and refer-a-friend mechanics can drive sustainable growth when the product delivers true value and trust. Paid acquisition can work when it targets retained users who spread the product organically.
What’s Next for Consumer AI? | Josh Elman Joins a16z
Q: What is the state of consumer AI today, and how does it differ from the enterprise focus we've seen recently?
The guest describes consumer AI as currently centered on discovery, personal relevance, and social connection, with AI acting as a personal assistant that enhances daily life rather than just boosting productivity. He emphasizes the importance of retention, natural language interfaces, and the role of creators and social networks in distribution.
Marc Andreessen on AI, Technology, and the Future of Humanity
Q: What are the key capabilities that have emerged in the last 18 months?
Capabilities include improved reasoning, tool use (internet access and computer control), multimodal processing (text, images, video, audio), and larger, more capable models that learn from massive datasets, enabling better coding, problem solving, and defense against cyber threats.
