  • Dunning Kruger

When the topic is new media it’s painful to hear billionaires deceptively talk their book, and abuse media theory concepts like “availability cascades” while pretending to be populists.

  • Occasionally good

A16Z often has great tech related guests and fairly good interviewers, but sometimes the audio quality is horrible. For example, the recent Balaji episode from April 22nd is unlistenable.

  • I was listening to recent a16z podcasts in the mornings in recent several weeks , it's an awesome podcast in general, and it’s amusing to listen to Silicon Valley formally articulate important tech trends. It is indeed an invaluable source of insights for anyone related to the tech industry. Highly recommended.

  • Sonal Says Yes Too Much!

On the episode with Sonal as host he interrupts the guest who is talking about Waymo constantly throughout the show. He has also done this in the past on previous episodes. It makes it very difficult to focus on what the guest is saying. I couldn’t sit through the whole episode to be honest.

  • Good insights mixed with politics

There is some good insights. Clearly they are smart and effective people. That said they have become MAGA message leader. Saying elections are going to be stolen as just one topic. Claim we can’t be a democracy without tech intervention. Probably because they know Trump is now very unpopular and likely can’t win elections without manipulation.

Ben Horowitz on Venture Capital and AI
Q: If you were a college student today, where would you put your energy and would you encourage dropping out to chase AI opportunities?
Focus on understanding and mastering AI as a powerful tool, choose a problem you are passionate about, and solve a meaningful problem first. The best ideas often arise from solving a personal or real-world problem, which can then scale into larger opportunities.
The System Behind Self-Driving: Waymo’s Dmitri Dolgov
Q: What makes Waymo's approach to self-driving unique compared to end-to-end approaches?
The core is a foundation-model-driven driver augmented with structured representations (objects, roads, signs) and supported by the simulator and critic to train and validate in realistic, scalable ways, rather than relying solely on raw pixels to drive.
Rethinking Git for the Age of Coding Agents with GitHub Cofounder Scott Chacon
Q: What is the role of code review in an era of agents and AI?
Code review should evolve toward patch-based, local verification with agent-assisted insights, focusing on actual execution and tests rather than solely relying on centralized PR descriptions; the human review remains essential but more targeted.
Rethinking Git for the Age of Coding Agents with GitHub Cofounder Scott Chacon
Q: Why did you pursue GitButler and how does it fit with the Unix philosophy and backward compatibility?
GitButler seeks to bridge the machine-optimized and human-optimized sides of Git, offering CLI/TUI/GUI options that share data structures and preserve much of Git's compatibility, while enabling new UX and agent integration.
Rethinking Git for the Age of Coding Agents with GitHub Cofounder Scott Chacon
Q: What do you think will happen to GitHub in this world of agentic coding?
GitHub will need to pivot toward enabling scalable, agent-focused workflows, possibly becoming more like a platform that supports multiple agent-centric tools and data formats, while maintaining its scale and ecosystem.
