  • AI AI AI.. x100

I really enjoyed this show in the past but recently all the episodes are about AI. Normally, I would be interested in hearing different opinions about venture capital and AI but one of the hosts is so brainwashed by AI that the whole episodes are him scaremongering. Some of the takes are so wild that it sounds like listening to some science fiction audiobook. The interviews are better but I can’t really recommend.

  • . Super bad.

In the beginning, I used to think that 20 VC is an awesome podcast. Not anymore. Take for example, one of the most recent episodes with the fiverr CEO. No content, emotionally, bombastic, full of curses. Not much to learn. Just opinionated people who act like preteen kids… who needs that in 2025?

Update Jan 2026: just getting worse and worse. All big money corporate. Forget 20vc.

Like the show. Rory is great on the weekly market show. Lemkin is awful. Last 3 months all he says is AI replaces people. Guy runs an events business who’s website doesn’t even work🤦‍♂️ probably vibe codes it

20VC: Marc Andreessen on The Future of Venture Capital: Will a16z Go Public | Why Labour Displacement with AI is Wrong | Why Introspection is Dangerous | Why "Diamonds in the Rough" is BS in VC | Why a16z Invested $300M into Adam Neumann
Q: Why did you choose to back Adam Neumann and the WeWork trajectory despite controversy?
The belief was that Neumann represented a generational talent and a compelling brand, and the decision was grounded in a broader assessment of potential impact and the transformative nature of the business proposition.
Q: How do you evaluate the potential of a founder beyond resume and pedigree?
Key signals include high IQ, courage, and an intrinsic drive to build something, observed through real-time learning, problem-solving, and a track record of creating tangible impact from a young age.
Q: What is your view on introspection and its value in VC decision-making?
Introspection has value, but it can become a trap if it leads to avoiding bold bets; learning from mistakes is important, yet one should not over-index on negative learnings at the expense of pursuing opportunities.
20VC: Hims & Hers: $4.3BN Market Cap on $2.3BN of Revenue: The Comeback | Why Being Public is 10x Better | The Death of the "Strategy" Hire | Why Performance Marketing is Worse than Brand Marketing with Andrew Dudum
Q: What is your view on brand marketing and its role in defensibility?
Brand marketing is powerful when it is consistent, appearing in many places with a clear, enduring message; it should not be a one-off spike, but a steady, varied presence that creates a cultural zeitgeist around the brand.
20VC: DeepMind's Demis Hassabis on Why AGI is Bigger than the Industrial Revolution | Why LLMs Will Not Commoditise & We Have Not Hit Scaling Laws | Bottlenecks in AI & The Energy Crisis Caused By AI | Whether AI Will Do More to Harm or Help Inequality
Q: Do you think scaling laws will plateau or continue to deliver returns?
While exponential gains may slow, the overall returns from scaling up existing models remain substantial. The frontier labs expect ongoing value from increasing compute and improving architectures, even if progress is not purely exponential.
