  • Worth it

Having moved into the tech / scale up space about 5 years ago, the void in understanding funding, product, engineering etc was immense and listening to 20VC has helped me bridge a lot of this. It helps me keep up to date with the latest and greatest, I learn about some awesome new businesses and people and it’s just very interesting. I never miss an episode. Highly recommended.

  • AI AI AI.. x100

I really enjoyed this show in the past but recently all the episodes are about AI. Normally, I would be interested in hearing different opinions about venture capital and AI but one of the hosts is so brainwashed by AI that the whole episodes are him scaremongering. Some of the takes are so wild that it sounds like listening to some science fiction audiobook. The interviews are better but I can’t really recommend.

  • . Super bad.

In the beginning, I used to think that 20 VC is an awesome podcast. Not anymore. Take for example, one of the most recent episodes with the fiverr CEO. No content, emotionally, bombastic, full of curses. Not much to learn. Just opinionated people who act like preteen kids… who needs that in 2025?

Update Jan 2026: just getting worse and worse. All big money corporate. Forget 20vc.

Like the show. Rory is great on the weekly market show. Lemkin is awful. Last 3 months all he says is AI replaces people. Guy runs an events business who’s website doesn’t even work🤦‍♂️ probably vibe codes it

Q: How important is analytics setup before scaling ads?
Essential. Set up proper attribution, avoid double/triple counting, and choose a clear primary metric (like CAC/LTV) to monitor elasticity and ensure efficient spend.

Q: What should early-stage founders prioritize in paid vs. organic growth?
Start with core paid channels (Meta and Google) and a lifecycle component, then layer in organic/input-based growth. Paid validates PLG quickly while organic builds brand and trust over time.

Q: What is the current state of Series A in this environment?
Series A has become the hardest insertion point due to elevated valuations and compressed timelines; firms are expanding seed strategies and using a barbell approach to target both early-stage and outlier growth opportunities.

Q: Do margins matter in a world of AI and frontier models?
Margins are evolving; while many high-growth AI companies operate with lower margins today, the path to 60-70% gross margins is still feasible through optimization, data strategy, and diversified model usage across a suite of offerings.

Q: Thinking about that democracy is failing, elections for a government is being incredibly useful tool. How do you think about who you can and should work with versus who you shouldn't?
The guest emphasizes that partnerships should align with the core principles and societal impact, preferring collaborations with entities that share values and that can meaningfully benefit from and responsibly implement simulation technology.
