  • Keep it up!

I’ve really enjoyed listening to this podcast. I found Bikepack Adventures upon returning home from my second bike tour (France to Istanbul) and it’s been really nice to listen to stories/ still feel connected to the bike travel community as my trip ends and I transition back to ‘regular’ life… and maybe start dreaming about the next trip!

Spokes and Jokes Tour with Skyler Bolks
Q: How did you adapt from biking to performing?
It took a few days to get used to being tired from biking before performing, but eventually it became a relief as I settled into the routine.
Spokes and Jokes Tour with Skyler Bolks
Q: How did you choose the route and venues? Was it comedy focused or bike focused?
The original plan was to try to hit all of the state parks in South Dakota, but logistics made it difficult, so it became a combination of where shows were available and where I had performed before.
Pedals, Peaks, and Perseverance: The Hellenic Mountain Race with Meaghan Hackinen
Q: How do you manage your mindset during these multi-day races?
In the early days, I'm quite focused, but as the race goes on, I start to lose focus. I try to remind myself of breathtaking scenery. It's important to keep pushing yourself and stay engaged with the beauty around you.
Pedals, Peaks, and Perseverance: The Hellenic Mountain Race with Meaghan Hackinen
Q: Is there anything you think you learned in this race that you haven't learned in other races?
I thought my gearing was dialed in, but I ended up walking a lot of the climbs due to fatigue. This taught me that I need to work on increasing my power to get to the top of climbs without relying on walking.
Pedals, Peaks, and Perseverance: The Hellenic Mountain Race with Meaghan Hackinen
Q: What was your strategy going into the Hellenic Mountain Race and how did it work out?
I planned to listen to my body and sleep minimally, around two to four hours. The start time was ideal for me as it matched my natural rhythms, and I ended up being able to find shelter for sleep during the race.
