This is the only podcast that I’ve ever gone back and listened to every episode of. Each week’s episode clearly has a lot of preparation put into it, the hosts provide fun insights into the history of the character and the stories they’re ranking, and the episodes featuring guests also provide a bit of extra fun here and there. I also appreciate the fact that they take time to call out problematic creators whose work they’re discussing. Definitely worth listening to for fans of the character ... more

  • Great Batman Podcast!

Very fun Batman podcast, ranking 3 stories at each week. The hosts are funny and very knowledgeable - I don’t always agree with every ranking (which is part of the fun) but I know the hosts will always have thoughtful, fun takes on the stories they review.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 231: A Mother & Daughter Reunion (w/ Abigale Heartbalm)
Q: What makes the Mother arc redefine Cass's place in the Batgirl lineage?
The arc foregrounds Cass's development beyond her parentage by showing her agency, inner strength, and evolving identity as Batgirl, while redefining her relationship with Shiva as foundational but not determinative for her future from this point on.
Episode 226: Riddle Me This, Will (w/ John Wickham)
Q: Who's Alan Grant's boy?
Anarchy, as identified by the hosts during the rhythm of the trivia segment, though they later note the correct trap around this choice.
Episode 226: Riddle Me This, Will (w/ John Wickham)
Q: Would you like to ask your first question?
The hosts tease a structured three-question format, using questions to guide a thematic discussion about the stories, with a focus on Bat God, On Holiday, I Am Sharp, Are You, and Alan Grant's Special Little Boy.
Episode 239: The Man Behind the Black Mask (w/ Sam Hopper)
Q: Why does the new Black Mask feel like a Black Mask in name only, and how does that affect the story's focus on Selena and the Falcon family?
The hosts argue the identity crisis tie-in was editorial-led, weakening the antagonist's core menace while diluting Selena's character work and the central conflict.
Episode 239: The Man Behind the Black Mask (w/ Sam Hopper)
Q: Is there any greater omen of doom and guffaw than Arkham Asylum getting modern security features added to it?
Sam suggests the update creates fertile dramatic tension, but the execution suffers from crowded plotting and underdeveloped payoffs, making the big security overhaul feel more like a narrative trap than a thematic payoff.
