The only comics’ podcast for my money that manages to successfully thread the needle of accessibility, humour and all-around great chemistry between the hosts, whilst still providing cogent and erudite analysis of the comics themselves. Most comics’ podcasts fall into the trap of feeling either like an insular, lore and plot-obsessed exercise in Big 2 Fandom for those elite-tier weekly warrior readers whose whole lives seemingly revolve around their favourite superheroes (usually to the detrimen... more
My Marvelous Year is the absolute best Marvel comics out there. I could listen to the hosts discuss literally anything but it is so fun to read along with them week to week.
Additionally, their Slack community is made up of a bunch of great people with fun comic and other discussions.
I will say that I have action with fraction, Zack is 100% right about Hawkeye, but we know he actually just likes movies and not comics JK
I’ve been listening to various comic podcasts for a long time but just stumbled onto My Marvelous Year and it is easily the best one! Going through the backlog of all the years of marvel comics has been a ton of fun and everyone is hilarious! Definitely worth subscribing to!
Love the podcast, I’m a relatively new listener but pretty immediately I was charmed by the funny & thoughtful discussions of Marvel comics throughout the years. I’ve enjoyed Marvel since I was very young but listening to My Marvelous Year has got me back into reading comics for the first time in years. I haven’t yet made it to the episodes in which Charlotte stars but I did want to show my appreciation for having a queer woman along for the ride; I can’t wait to hear her perspective on the comi... more
I’ve been listening and reading along for a few years now, and I’ve read from the beginning up to 1986. This podcast has allowed me to finally enjoy some of the early classics I’ve always heard about (Lee/ditko Spider-Man, coming of galactus, kree/skrull war) and even discover some runs/characters that I never knew of or thought I would like (panther’s rage, Shang-chi, Luke cage, search for eternity). After reading a comic that I like or love it’s always fun to get Zack’s and Dave’s (and eventua... more
