  • Blast from the past.

I was long time friends with the fellas from Transition, so I was interested in listening to episode 302. I was pleasantly surprised to hear you reference ‘Get Off My Wagon’, which was my zine. Thanks for giving Transition some traction. It did my heart good to take the walk down memory lane.

  • My current favorite music podcast

I started listening to YDKM years ago (can’t remember exactly when) and my recent re-discovery of all things ALL prompted me to go back to listening to YDKM. I love all of the deep inside info on ALL and it’s fairly good sized catalog as well as all of the other many, many great SST & Cruz releases. Excellent podcast.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

315 The Sort of Quartet "Planet Mamon" w/ Mario Lalli
Q: How did Planet Mamon come together, and what was the writing process like?
Planet Mamon formed as a true collective with the core quartet plus horn players; tracks were created in a jam-friendly environment where melodies and grooves were assembled collaboratively, with Gary writing melodies and Mario and the others layering textures until the pieces felt like a natural expression rather than a prescribed structure.
312 CRUZ INTRUSION - Greg Ginn - w/ Eric Blitz
Q: What was your involvement with the Let It Burn sessions and how did the process work?
Blitz describes joining Ginn's project through Jimmy Hunter, the layering of bass lines first, and the subsequent addition of drums and guitars at different studios, highlighting the experimental, almost ' Frankenstein' nature of the recording process.
312 CRUZ INTRUSION - Greg Ginn - w/ Eric Blitz
Q: Where are you from and how did you get into drumming?
Eric Blitz explains growing up in New York, being influenced by rhythm from a young age, and pursuing drums through diverse settings—from CBGB matinees to avant-garde circles, which eventually led to his work with Ginn and related projects.
313 Gone "Best Left Unsaid" w/ Gregory Moore
Q: How did you end up recording and touring with Ginn in the 1990s?
After meeting Steve and going through a rigorous audition sequence, Moore joined the project, worked on hundreds of tracks, rehearsed intensively, and then toured with a large, gear-heavy live setup across Europe and the US.
313 Gone "Best Left Unsaid" w/ Gregory Moore
Q: What was the audition process like for Greg Ginn's band?
The auditions were lengthy and involved multiple callbacks, with Greg evaluating musicians using ADAT tapes and a demanding, collaborative setup that emphasized groove, timing, and flexibility.
