Q: Tell me about this new album. You've had a lot of collaborations. What songs are you most looking forward for people to hearing?
Whey expresses excitement for the entire album and emphasizes the cohesive arc from track one to twelve, describing it as a single human condition and a narrative of his life and faith, with a shift toward deeper, more personal themes in Baptized by Fire.
Exploring Nashville Music History: William Lee Golden and his Journey with the Oak Ridge Boys and Family Legacy in Music
Q: What single piece of advice would you give to someone starting a career in Music City?
Stay true to your vision, don't let others pull you off course, and surround yourself with visionaries who can amplify your goals, because perseverance through early skepticism is essential to turning a dream into a lasting career.
Exploring Nashville Music History: William Lee Golden and his Journey with the Oak Ridge Boys and Family Legacy in Music
Q: How did you first get introduced to the Oak Ridge Boys and eventually join the group?
I had been performing with my own trio and meeting the Oaks at various concerts; after presenting my idea to join them and proving my fit as a baritone, I traveled through a blizzard to Nashville, auditioned, and was invited to join, marking the start of my long association with the group.
Exploring Nashville Music History: William Lee Golden and his Journey with the Oak Ridge Boys and Family Legacy in Music
Q: What was a specific moment or landscape that first made you want to pick up a camera and document these memories in your new book?
A turning point came in 2008 when I received my first digital camera, which opened up a world of immediacy and possibility; I began taking landscape photos with my family on trips, comparing images to memories and incorporating them into a broader autobiography.
From The Voice to Nashville: Rae Lynn Shares Her Music Journey and Dream of Walking with Dolly Parton
Q: If you could take a walk with anyone in Nashville, living or dead, who would you take a walk with, and where in Nashville would that walk be?
I would take a walk with Dolly Parton, and I'd want to sit and talk with her unfiltered, ideally walking through Radnor in Nashville so we could share thoughts and insights in a relaxed setting.
