Since launching in 2000, All Songs Considered has been NPR's flagship program for music discovery, artist interviews and conversations with friends and fellow music lovers about the really big questions, like what was the best decade for music, are there albums everyone can agree on, and what do you put on when you need a good cry? Weekly, with host Robin Hilton and the NPR Music family.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I'll say it again: the variety of creative expression in what is inadequately labeled "Latin music" continues to astound me.

Continue to treasure Sheldon’s contributions to The Contenders. As someone of Robin’s age, I’m put off more and more by his sarcasm and condescension, esp towards younger co-hosts. This episode didn’t work for me.
Absolutely adore this feed. It along with Bandcamp have become *the* ways I discover music these days and the amount of contextual information provided with each artist and song is captivating. I love all the shows on this stream, especially the way they all exude a voracious and earnest love of all music that helps cleanse me of the “cooler than thou” hipsterism of my formative years. You all rock.

I’m so grateful for this show. It has great heart as well as musical knowledge. What blesses me most, though, is the way you help me understand your culture, what you have endured to keep your culture strong, and what you endure to this day. I come away with an ever-deepening understanding that every culture has a story worth knowing.
My own culture is pervasive and repressive, for which I’m tempted to apologize, although I don’t really drive that machine.

Have been listening on and off for many years, it has been consistently one of my favorite podcasts for music discovery. They do cover the basics of current mainstream music but there is also a wealth of lesser known artists that get discussed, especially for people outside of the US. The format just works, and the hosts are great.
