Just discovered this podcast and listened to a handful of episodes. I’m quite impressed with the stories and details on songs and bands I thought I already knew very well. Thank you.
Finally, a discussion/ dissertation about rock music that isn’t flash and bang, takes you the long way round to where music comes from.
It’s thorough and comprehensive. The audio levels can be a bit wonky but other than that, it’s an awesome podcast!
First review for any podcast or audiobook here—this gentleman is a genius. To say he does a deep dive is an understatement. The idea that he’s done hundreds of such deep dives, delving into the historical roots as well as the contemporary influences, and and connecting the dots wherever the dots may lead, puts this podcast and the man behind it in the genius category in my opinion. This is true graduate level music history, coursework, and I’m frankly stunned that something so comprehensive whil... more
Andrew, congratulations on your work but someone must say this, to continue at the rate and length of episodes that you are progressing at, I doubt that I, and maybe yourself will finish in our lifetimes. You have about 320 songs to go, even if you publish just one song a month, that’s nearly 30 years to complete all 500 songs. It is not realistic, you need to keep episodes shorter and publish much more often.
