  • Rick Rubin has lost all credibility

Rick has decided to not only provide a platform to a number of the most heinously anti-human developers/CEOs of major Ai/LLMs, but is now sponsored by them too. He actively endores this dystopian garbage which threatens to erode the intellectual and creative faculties of anyone who uses it, but also threatens the core of the collective human creative spirit. He wrote "the creative act", and it nauseates me that he's such a deceptive and ethically corrupted traitor. Seriously, i loved Rick Rubin ... more

  • I question the integrity of everyone involved in this podcast

    - Dubious guests increasingly being “Rick washed” between artists, authors, actors and musicians

    - Ads for ethically challenged products like “athletic nicotine”

    - Ad copy being read by repulsive AI generated voices

A charitable reading of the situation: the host is detached from production decisions around sponsorship, ad creation, and guest selection. Time to pay attention Rick: the aura loss is real.

  • Love Rick! But unfortunately guest quality has crashed fast in 2026, all corporate shills mostly!

I started listening years ago when Rick had anti mainstream guests like brave people pushing back against big pharmaceutical & also loved the music artist guests! But like 18 outta last 20 episodes have been CEO’s of huge corporations. It just feels like a hard shift and not a good one sadly. Nothing wrong with bringing on different kind of guests but when it’s 95% of episodes these mainstream opposite of early shows vibe, it’s a true bummer! In 2024 I’d give this 5 stars, for 2026 I give it... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Kenny Chesney
Q: What would you tell your 18-year-old self about the industry?
Patience. The industry teaches you timing and craft; rushing at things rarely serves long-term success. It's about building skills over time, not forcing instant results.
Eric Roth
Q: How do you decide what to keep when adapting a book or real-life story?
The guest describes reading and underlining to identify dramatically interesting elements, then coalescing material so a single dramatic moment can carry multiple themes, while acknowledging that the final structure often diverges from the original source in service of storytelling and cinematic needs.
Greg Brockman (Part 1)
Q: What was the difference in vision?
Control. The reason that we could not get to a deal with Elon was because we could not give him control.
Greg Brockman (Part 1)
Q: What did they tell you?
They told me that I had been removed from the board but that they want me to stay at the company.
Greg Brockman (Part 1)
Q: Describe it. Tell me what the event was, how did it happen?
I got a message from Ilya asking me to hop on a video call where they told me that Sam has been fired.
