  • Very good, but why so American?

    This is a really informative, well presented survey of British India. I learnt a lot even though I knew a little bit about the subject to begin with. It claims to be a history of how India got its independence, but it’s actually a history of how the modern states of India and Pakistan came into existence. There were two stages to this process: first, the British conquest of India and second, India’s attainment of independence from Britain.   • Excellent history

    One of the best series if you like in depth high level history. It is well written and has a range of views examined and evaluated by the host in his narrative and supported by a range of the top historians in their field. Superb, its like being back at uni!

  • I love history, especially the great conflicts of the 18-20th century, but am underinformed when it comes to non-European history. This is shaping up to help rectify that. It's giving me background I need to understand the story, as well as what appears to be a nuanced view of the way terms & events are interpreted by different sides, but isn't (so far) giving a ridiculously detailed account of every individual & incident, which leads me to lose track of the plot in history podcasts. Great work!... more
