  • Totally engrossing.

Never less than engrossing. The people interviewed are invariably top historians in their field and immersed in their specialism but also able to project their enthusiasm and fascination. These programmers are what cause people to fall in love with history. On the down side I never listen to episode without feeling compelled to buy the book! Absolutely top notch.

  • Genuinely interesting. Podcasting done right.

A great podcast inviting engaging guests to discuss books and topics of expertise. Angus does a great job of hosting and interviewing guests asking questions that demonstrate a genuine interest in their work and allowing them to speak about and enthuse on their own areas of special interest and knowledge without talking over them and insisting upon the same old tired narratives. Top professional quality podcasting without any annoying corporate celebrity nonsense.
