  • Cheap and lazy

The use of AI generated slop for a podcast that evidently has the financial backing to pay artists is both insulting and genuinely just really cheap.

    Do better. This stinks

  • Great fodder for the brain…

…when Philip Shane and Prof. Matt Stanley delve into one of their scientific / technological / cultural ”what the ifs”. The best that I know the responses from Matt Stanley are mainly improvised on the spot (which gave me a weird tangent, as the voice of Matt sounds very similar to the know-it-all droid C-53 from Mission-to-Zyxx, an equally improvised, albeit fully fictional, great podcast)

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Black Holes
Q: Why are primordial black holes considered as a potential explanation for the Tunguska Explosion?
Primordial black holes were suggested as candidates because they could cause significant energy release without leaving debris, making them a fitting explanation for the unexplained damage in the Tunguska incident.
Black Holes
Q: What would these microscopic black holes look like?
These tiny black holes would be so small that they wouldn't form an accretion disk and would be undetectable like larger black holes; they interact through gravity but not in the visual ways we see with supermassive black holes.
GROUND HOG Day PHYSICS!
Q: What are these thought experiments?
They are imaginative changes to reality that allow us to explore scientific principles and their consequences.
GROUND HOG Day PHYSICS!
Q: What would happen if the Earth spun the other way?
If the Earth spun the other way, the basic processes would be the same, but everything would function in reverse, such as the direction the sun rises and weather patterns.
BIOLOGICAL New Year's Resolutions!
Q: What ideas could we do around New Year's resolutions?
The hosts discussed the nature of resolutions and imagined a scenario where people were forced to complete them, exploring both the biological and societal implications.
