  • Great start!

A good start with a queer guest on episode 1. Also good to tackle the intersectional male perspective in a topic more often centred on women’s bodies. Would be interesting to hear from men who enjoy being fat and how their bodies bring joy to the world. Glad for a straight host so it can avoid the chub-chaser/bear-hater-centrism of The Big Fat Gay pod.

  • Wow! This is original.

I’ve listened to thousands of podcasts over the years, and Tubby is unlike anything I’ve heard.

It’s so honest, open, and vulnerable with just 2 men talking about weight and body image. It felt real and meaningful in a way that’s rare.

I really hope you keep making episodes like this one.

Just when I thought there was nothing new under the podcast sun, this came along. Loved it.

That's Why I Don't Diet with Kimberly Dark
Q: Let me ask you something that you seem to be implying, which is you're not trying to lose weight.
Hell no. Let me tell you why I'm not trying to lose weight. It's really unhealthy to do that.
That's Why I Don't Diet with Kimberly Dark
Q: So, from what I read, you were fat. I can't, I'm not comfortable saying that, but you were fat when you were...
I know you're not comfortable. It's an insult word in our culture, and it shouldn't be, but it is, and I guess that's why, for me, it is worthwhile to talk about it.
That's Why I Don't Diet with Kimberly Dark
Q: Have you ever had, I bet you haven't, but you know, there's a seat that they can give you, I think it's maybe near the door, and they're like, oh, we'll give you that seat. That's a great seat because you have tons of leg room.
It's really hard to get somebody to switch seats on a plane.
Starved for the Touch
Q: What would you say makes you most aware of being fat?
Going to the swimming pool makes me very self-conscious about being seen, especially by children.
The Problem with Mirrors with Alex Goldman
Q: Do you think you'd be pretty happy if you were basically solidly at around 200 pounds for the rest of your life?
Alex expresses doubt, stating that he had experienced happiness briefly when he lost weight, but primarily identified larger issues contributing to his unhappiness.
