Two students have found themselves suddenly obsessed with and entangled in the murky world of true crime podcasting. Or, if you want to get into the specifics – and apparently, they do – they've become obsessed with trying to understand why and how people make careers out of talking about homicide; why some podcasts can help solve murder cases, and why other podcasts seem to be slowly corroding th... more

I would have liked to give 5 stars but I’m not sure why you did your homework on Ashley Flowers but failed to do so with a toxic lair, convicted criminal, serial online bully, perpetrator of false information and fraudster like Ladonna Humphrey on your podcast.
These two need more life and knowledge under their belt before this can be a good podcast. The derivative and contrived opinions and analysis are embarrassing. They act like these centuries old misogynistic crimes are something they just discovered. Both of the hosts come off as very smug and they are full of overinflated importance. I’d venture to say it’s boring to listen to them but it’s not even that interesting. They both need to grow up and read more. Life isn’t a game of interviewing your... more
I loved this podcast. If yall decide to do a season 2 I’m so here. I listened to Amanda Knox’s series on true crime and read Rachel Monroe’s book as a result of this. Thank you for your hard work! Would love to hear more from you both on this topic in the future.
So far, I like the concept of this podcast. However, Having LaDonna Humphrey on your podcast is a red flag. She spends her free time harassing victims and has falsely accused people of Melissa Witt's murder. Season 18 of Pretend is all about her misdeeds. I actually assumed your episode was about that.
I found this today and I’ve already binged it :)
I love the concept and I hope they continue to dig deeper into specific instances and what they say about the true crime genre in general.
