  • Pretty Funny, Also 🤔

Good show. Undoubtedly the funniest of the “revolutions” podcasts. Lots of informative and insightful content. Though I fear they may never know the genius that is Wu Tang v Ninja (1985), aka Ninja Hunter.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EP. 821: THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF THE DOCTOR AND THE IMMIGRANT ft. MILTON ALLIMADI
Q: How did Cassandra Fameux's identity as a Black Haitian immigrant shape the way institutions responded to her?
Milton indicates that being a Black woman from Haiti led to significant bias and dismissal of her claims against a respected white doctor, highlighting systemic injustice in the medical legal system.
EP. 821: THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF THE DOCTOR AND THE IMMIGRANT ft. MILTON ALLIMADI
Q: Why did this story matter to you, and what initially pulled you into it?
Milton Allimadi explains that a call from Cassandra Fameux about being drugged by her husband drew him into investigating the case, leading him to uncover substantial evidence and patterns of medical abuse.
EP. 823: A PROTEST HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES ft. GLORIA J. BROWNE-MARSHALL
Q: Is protest ultimately a moral obligation even when it fails?
Gloria argues that failed protests can serve as foundations for future change, emphasizing that silence will not protect individuals from social injustice and that protest can take many forms, even personal actions.
EP. 823: A PROTEST HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES ft. GLORIA J. BROWNE-MARSHALL
Q: You emphasize movements rather than moments. Does a protest have value if it is not attached to a sustained movement, organization, or material demand?
Gloria believes protests are more powerful when tied to demands. Emotional expressions alone can be insufficient if they lack specific goals to drive systemic change.
EP. 823: A PROTEST HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES ft. GLORIA J. BROWNE-MARSHALL
Q: Can protest exist without sacrifice or does risk give protest its political force?
Gloria asserts that risk is inherent in protest, as it challenges existing values and can provoke strong backlash. While risk enhances meaning, protests can still have significance even without violent disruption.
