  • ContraPoints Ep

Girl you wiped the floor with her (which I know was not the good faith effort you put in to reach across the aisle to her), and it’s so crazy how inarticulate and unprepared Natalie is to have any sort of substantive conversation. One of my favorite episodes in a long time, because it echoes so many of the frustrating conversations I have in my day to day life trying to articulate the control corporate donors have over the entire Democratic Party as a mechanism.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Promo: Episode 602 Independnt's Day (w/ Sam Husseini)
Q: To do that end, can you tell me a little bit about your district, a little bit more about who Glenn Ivey is and how he came to be in Congress?
The discussion covered Ivey's fundraising background, the influence of external money, and how the district's political landscape has evolved, including concerns about establishment alignment and the role of APAC funding in shaping electoral outcomes.
Episode 599 - Does the Left's "Tea Party" Have Teeth? (w/ Oliver Larkin)
Q: What is your stance on defund the police and abolishing ICE and how do you address concerns about public safety?
The goal is to abolish the mass incarceration system and private detention; public safety should come from universal services and social supports, not punitive, profit-driven systems; policy can still ensure safety while reducing harm.
Episode 593 - There's Nothing Wrong With Wanting Men (w/ Magdalene J. Taylor)
Q: What is the central focus of your article and how does it relate to hetero pessimism?
The piece argues that there is a pervasive hetero pessimism in culture, describing it as a mindset that the heterosexual dating landscape is deteriorating; the goal is to show that this pessimism may be overstated and that structural factors and individual attitudes shape experiences in complex ways.
Episode 597 - What is the DSA For? (w/ Megan Romer)
Q: What does democratic centralism mean in practice for the DSA?
It means making a democratic decision at the chapter level and then everyone shows up to support the chosen campaign, even if individuals disagreed with the decision during the vote.
Promo: Episode 590 - Is Tucker Willing to do What the DSA Won't? (w/ Glenn Greenwald)
Q: Do you think this third party is real? Is Tucker Carlson and some of these others, are they going to work together to really do a break from the Republicans?
The guest argues it's uncertain whether a viable third-party can emerge, weighing historical precedents and the likelihood of consolidation around a few influential figures, while noting skepticism about a purely left third-party option given current political realities.
