  • Loved it!

Such a good reminder that as business people we should leave tasks that are not in our own wheel house to other professionals. If bookkeeping isn’t your thing, hire someone who is great at it (like Tasha) so you can focus on your own business!

Money Moves: How to Pay Yourself as a Business Owner
Q: What is the main factor that determines whether salary or dividends are more advantageous for a typical incorporated business owner?
It depends on the life cycle stage, the amount of retained earnings, CPP and RRSP implications, and how much you expect to extract from the corporation over time; there is no universal rule, and planning with a coordinated team helps map the right balance year to year.
Taxes After Death: What Every Executor Needs to Know (with special guest, Michelle Coleman)
Q: What are the first tax returns we should be thinking about when someone dies?
The terminal T1 return for the year of death is prepared, followed by the estate's T3 return with a non-calendar year end option, allowing time for planning; both have specific due dates and require careful documentation of assets and liabilities.
Summer at the Firm: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at being a Summer Student, with special guests Blake, Frank and Nick!
Q: What was your peak and pit of the summer?
Blake said his peak was the trust placed in students to interact with clients, while his pit was the struggle with confidence in his work. Frank echoed similar sentiments about his passion discoveries and challenges.
Summer at the Firm: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at being a Summer Student, with special guests Blake, Frank and Nick!
