  • Solid Content

This is a solid weekly investing podcast, and Amber is a pleasure to listen to. She brings tons of energy and always sounds like she is enjoying herself. The 5-star episodes are when she brings in smart analysts and insightful fund managers. The 3-star shows are when she caves in and interviews boring, self-promoting CEO's. Stop doing that!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Iran’s Oil Crisis Could Send Prices to $200 — Is Canada the Big Winner?
Q: What catalysts could price energy stocks higher if crude maintains a premium?
A combination of tighter inventory, continued supply disruptions, and a more constructive policy response that offsets demand destruction would help energy equities rise; but investors remain wary until more concrete outcomes unfold.
Iran’s Oil Crisis Could Send Prices to $200 — Is Canada the Big Winner?
Q: At a high level, how are you expressing this view in your portfolio? Are you investing as if oil could go to 200?
I'm navigating with a mix of reducing exposures without upside, holding cash, and selectively adding to equities with asymmetric upside that could 5x or 10x if oil moves higher, balancing risk in the portfolio.
Oil Shock: Eric Nuttall Says the Market is Dangerously Complacent
Q: What is your view on Strathcona and other Canadian oil names in light of recent events?
He explains Strathcona's attractive long-term inventory and potential for M&A, the liquidity strategy they use to enter and exit positions, and why he prefers high-conviction, manageable-sized positions with strong balance sheets over chasing higher-flyer juniors.
Oil Shock: Eric Nuttall Says the Market is Dangerously Complacent
Q: What are your thoughts on the implications for the oil market given the recent Middle East tensions?
Eric explains that the situation is historic and unlike past spikes because of a persistent political risk premium, potential supply disruptions, and thin spare capacity; he emphasizes the need to position for a multi-year oil equity cycle rather than simply reacting to short-term price moves.
The Rise and Fall of ESG — And What Comes Next
Q: Nvidia, which is your top holding, what do you think about Nvidia as a stock right now?
Nvidia remains a top holding with a durable competitive advantage and strong earnings growth; the stock could underperform in the short term if sentiment turns, but over the long term the fundamentals remain appealing.
