Many were repetitive (‘how wonderful was Modric’ ... well, yes he is, but don’t forget the brilliant team around him ... ‘Giroud was terrible, didn’t have a shot on target’ ... wait a minute, had Mbappe not tapped in from a metre out against Peru, would that not have been credited to Giroud?) and generally riddled with lazy, poorly-constructed opinion.
