  • Murphy’s Podcast

They have some incredible reporters, but according to The Athletic, everyone is tosh. Even when a team is on top of the world, The Athletic proudly awaits their downfall. When a team is bad, they pile on top of the negativity. Seemingly no one is fit enough to win the premier league.

Once again, the reporting is quite good, but this can’t be the only football podcast you listen to. Otherwise, you will forget the sun still exists above the clouds.

  • Betting ads

Absolutely predatory behaviour persisting with betting portions of the show when there are so many people with gambling issues. The premier league is banning this from shirts next season and I hope you put ethics above profits too.

  • Brentford

As a Brentford supporter, I would love a pod about Brentford. People thought that they were going down but instead they are fifth I always look at what podcast I have for the night and it’s always a big club so it would be great if we got one about a smaller underdog team like Brentford.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is Rosenior losing the Chelsea fans already?
Q: Did Rosenior get this badly wrong or is it more about the gap in resources and squad design?
The guests suggest it's a mix: injuries forced tactical shifts and exposed gaps in squad depth, while the broader issue is Chelsea's misalignment between managerial vision and player recruitment, making the current situation hard to salvage quickly.
Gabriel Jesus interview: Arteta vs Guardiola, Arsenal's title race & more
Q: So you said that Guardiola was key for you to sign for Manchester City. How important has been Arteta? Did he call you for you to join Arsenal?
Gabriel explains that Arteta played a crucial role, with indications from Edu and a visit that helped seal the move; Pep initially connected him to Arsenal through a chain of conversations, and the decision was framed as a joint vision between Arteta, Pep, and the club.
Can Tudor survive much longer at Spurs?
Q: What are your thoughts on Tudor's future given the four-game, four-defeat run?
All five Athletic writers on the post-match panel agreed Tudor should be sacked, though there was reluctance to act quickly; the consensus is that the current results and tactical misalignments point to a need for a change, even if it's not guaranteed to solve everything immediately.
What's wrong with Aston Villa?
Q: Is Tammy Abraham being used effectively since his arrival?
There is debate among insiders about whether Abraham has been integrated optimally; some suggest Emery's loyalty to trusted players limits opportunities for new signings to make an immediate impact, while others think Abraham hasn't had a long enough run to prove himself.
What's wrong with Aston Villa?
Q: What do you think is the root cause of Villa's form dip recently?
The panel attributes the decline to a combination of high line vulnerability, overreliance on a core group, injuries, and a lag in squad depth that prevents Emery from rotating effectively without weakening the team; there is also concern about tactical consistency and player confidence.
