  • Childish and arrogant

This podcast used to be informative, but over the last few years it has turned into more of an arrogance and childish stage for the host. The attitude is that of a person saying I know everything and a lot of childish and silliness coming out of Dr. Gray. It has turned into more of a showcase of himself. Such a sad turn of event.

  • Discouraging and patronizing

Episode 468. Completely patronizing language toward the very first question about the affordability of medical school. Thank goodness Virginia was on the podcast because I was fuming listening to Dr. Gray and the previous TMDSAS director. A question was asked about why medical school did not offer funding and free tuition like PhD students— fair question if you’re not familiar with research funding. Dr. Gray and the director took this question as “asking for a pat on the back or an applaud”, whi... more

623: Second-Time Applicant: COVID Delay, Perspective, Acceptance
Q: When did you realize you wanted to be a doctor?
Vanessa describes a journey from early exposure to patient care through campus EMT work and suicide hotline volunteering, which gradually clarified her desire to help people physically and emotionally, culminating in a decision to pursue medicine after recognizing the unique impact physicians have on patients' lives.
622: From 495 MCAT to Med School via a Bridge Program
Q: How did you balance the financial and time commitments of med school with starting a business?
I leveraged savings and family support, and I structured the business as a two-two split with my partners to keep it manageable alongside medical training, recognizing it would be stressful but worth pursuing for long-term fulfillment.
622: From 495 MCAT to Med School via a Bridge Program
Q: What motivated you to pursue the SMP bridge program instead of continuing to push through conventional routes?
The SMP offered a structured, time-bound path with a clear chance at a direct seat if I achieved a target GPA and MCAT score. It represented a last, explicit shot at med school, and the guarantee of a path forward outweighed the uncertainty of traditional timelines.
622: From 495 MCAT to Med School via a Bridge Program
Q: When did you first realize you wanted to go to medical school and be a physician?
I realized it after leaving the corporate world and seeing how I could make a real impact on patients; the driving force was a growing interest in healthcare and the desire to contribute meaningfully beyond spreadsheets and cycles of data. Shadowing and volunteering reinforced that path.
620: Four MCAT Retakes and Still Standing Strong!
Q: What influenced your ultimate choice to enroll at UAG Guadalajara instead of continuing in the U.S. DO/MD track?
Richard explains the decision weighed family support, language, and mental health; being near family and in a familiar cultural setting helped sustain him through the demanding medical school journey, despite the strong U.S. MD preference among his peers.
