Victorian and Edwardian ghost stories are lovely for Christmas Eve or any other time of the year. Without the gore and horror of many more recent tales, EF Benson’s stories are imaginative and scary, but still pleasurable. And Richard Crowest reads them clearly (in a pleasant but serious voice) so one understands every word.
Can’t get enough of these E F Benson stories read by Mr Crowest, such a rich voice that easily conveys the horror, mystery and atmosphere, almost mesmerising. I listen to them before bed (with the light on!) Thanks so much and looking forward to the next recording.
I want to thank Richard Crowest for his powerful narrations of these wonderful stories. He is one of the world’s finest voice actors and I feel lucky to have found this podcast which is now my favorite. I listen to each story multiple times and whenever there is a new one released, I am positively thrilled. Thank you!!
All rolled up in one. No over the top plays acting accentuated by a quietly told yet penetrating foray into the darkest part of our collective past and future consciousness.
Also a lot of fun.
I was delighted to see there was a new recording!
There is no other podcast that delivers such beautifully read horror in exactly the kind of voice you imagine the author would narrate.
