  • Content: 5/5. Sound quality: 0/1.

Buy a professional microphone and some noise deadening stuff for your echoey room, please! Often the guest’s audio is far superior to the interviewer. Otherwise — fantastic podcast. Just hard to listen to. Often will begin episodes then end them after a moment because the are so hard to listen to.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Drinks With The Deal: Nixon Peabody’s Singh on Parental Expectations, Remote Work
Q: How has working remotely affected your approach to client work and networking?
Living in Michigan as a remote worker requires intentional travel planning; I focus on back-to-back in-person meetings whenever I travel to stay connected, avoid endless Zoom, and maximize relationship-building with clients and colleagues.
Drinks With The Deal: Nixon Peabody’s Singh on Parental Expectations, Remote Work
Q: How did your move to New York come about, and what were you seeking in a firm culture?
I moved because my husband matched a residency in Long Island, and I wanted a firm with a big-firm capability but a small-firm culture—friendly, collaborative, and genuinely happy people. I paid attention to daily interactions, openness, and whether people worked well together, which is how I chose Nixon Peabody after visiting several firms.
Drinks With The Deal: Nixon Peabody’s Singh on Parental Expectations, Remote Work
Q: Tell us about your path to law school and what steered you toward corporate law.
I initially explored a prosecutor path but shadowing different practice areas showed me the variety and client-focused, transaction-driven nature of corporate work. Rotations across litigation, health care, and corporate groups helped me realize that the deal lifecycle—from startup to exit—was where my passion lay, especially when I could see the client's growth journey.
Drinks With The Deal: Sheppard's Zablocki on How She Came to Healthcare Law
Q: Tell us about yourself and your background and how you found your way to the law.
Amanda describes growing up in New York, being inspired by her father's general practice, and her early realization that law was her calling, which led her to private practice and then a shift into health care through a personal family health crisis that steered her toward health care and nonprofit missions.
Activist Investing Today: Goodwin's Wood Talks REITs, Biotech Activism
Q: What are the main activist strategies in biotech, especially when there is no immediate exit opportunity?
Activists push for cost discipline, pipeline prioritization, and strategic alternatives like partnerships, asset sales, or even liquidation. They monitor milestones and data readouts to time pressure on management and may advocate for exits or strategic reallocation when funding becomes constrained.
