  • Ideological trash

I used to enjoy this show until Switzer took over. He is so ideological, and packs panels with guests who support his own viewpoints. For those who enjoy balanced, intellectually challenging discussions, Sunday Extra is not worth your time.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Crypto Economies, Credit Flights and Classical Discoveries: 28 June, 2026
Q: Would the aviation reforms, if passed, give airline passengers a clear and simple right to a refund rather than a travel credit?
Cindy Lee suggests that the Aviation Consumer Protection Bill could introduce new frameworks and rights, but it is too early to confirm a guaranteed refund right; the details will depend on later subordinate legislation.
03 The Making of One Nation | Survive the Scandal
Q: Why does One Nation survive scandals that would typically damage other parties?
The hosts and researcher explain it as a combination of Hanson's enduring brand, a centralized leadership style that resists accountability, and a media strategy that reframes scandals as resistance to elite oppression, keeping supporters engaged.
02 The Making of One Nation | Define the Enemy
Q: Ben Moffat, how did Pauline Hanson's 'swamped by Asians' line catalyze the party's early appeal, and what does that say about populist messaging?
The line crystallized a fear-based narrative that framed immigrants as an existential threat, which resonated with segments of voters seeking identity and belonging during times of economic and cultural change, and it helped mainstream attention while allowing the party to position itself as a defender of national identity.
01 The Making of One Nation | Enter the Outsider
Q: Anna, what's one thing you wish we all knew about Pauline Hanson?
Bronowski suggests Hanson could have been a brilliant populist for the left if she had the right minders, highlighting her extraordinary charisma, genuine care for people, and potential to shape policy in a more constructive direction under different guidance.
Sunday Extra 24 May 2026
Q: What is Avenger Labs and why is it significant?
Avenger Labs is a program that leverages a large library of battlefield drone video to train AI models, potentially allowing the Ukrainian military to access advanced targeting data; its significance lies in the tensions around international humanitarian law and the ethical implications of AI in warfare.
