  • Ideological trash

I used to enjoy this show until Switzer took over. He is so ideological, and packs panels with guests who support his own viewpoints. For those who enjoy balanced, intellectually challenging discussions, Sunday Extra is not worth your time.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

04 The Making of One Nation | Move the Centre
Q: Josh, what makes the One Nation phenomenon so interesting to you?
It's a case study in how a party with limited governing power can still reshape policy by influencing major parties, media narratives, and voter expectations, especially around immigration and national identity.
05 The Making of One Nation | Master the Media
Q: Is it better to fight fire with fire essentially, to interrogate the far-right's policies through a medium they're already using?
The guest cautions that humor and satire can backfire if perceived as sneering by the far-right, potentially reinforcing their underdog narrative; a selective, careful approach to coverage is recommended to avoid amplifying outrage and playing into their hands.
05 The Making of One Nation | Master the Media
Q: Let me ask you, is the media responsible for One Nation?
Kurt Sengul argues that while the media's coverage has amplified One Nation, responsibility is shared and complex, with early coverage helping to establish legitimacy, yet contemporary dynamics involve deliberate choices by parties and audiences; the media's evolving role in the digital age complicates simple causality.
Statecraft, witchcraft and life after football: 26 July, 2026
Q: What is driving the current protests in India and how is leadership evolving?
Pearl Pandya explains that the protests have broadened from a single exam leak issue into concerns about governance and accountability, with social media allowing for a decentralized, leaderless movement.
Crypto Economies, Credit Flights and Classical Discoveries: 28 June, 2026
Q: Would the aviation reforms, if passed, give airline passengers a clear and simple right to a refund rather than a travel credit?
Cindy Lee suggests that the Aviation Consumer Protection Bill could introduce new frameworks and rights, but it is too early to confirm a guaranteed refund right; the details will depend on later subordinate legislation.
