  • Crisis Centers help

I was helped tremendously by a crisis pregnancy center. Even 3 years later and a new baby, they help with a lot of things. Planned parenthood never once offered me free diapers. Planned parenthood is evil. Why hate crisis pregnancy centers when they’re funded by donors?

  • Need to take a break.

I think there’s too much of a push to make content these days that we’re missing the point of the show. When there are fewer episodes per week, the show has a lot more depth. With each of the mini episodes and check in episodes (don’t forget the ads), it’s losing its important voice in all the fluff. Scaling down would make for better engagement.

Is AI the New Girlboss?
Q: What do you remember about the girl boss era? Was this something you participated in, or were you adjacent to it?
The panel discusses initial optimism around women entrepreneurship, noting mixed experiences where early adopters of color built real businesses, but later iterations centered on affluent white women selling courses and books, which over time proved unsustainable and exclusionary.
Activists Around the World: Sunu P. Chandy
Q: What inspired Sunu P. Chandy to pursue both poetry and civil rights law, and how do these disciplines complement each other?
Chandy describes a lifelong drive to blend direct legal action with nuanced, human-centered storytelling, using poetry to illuminate legal and social issues and to connect with people on a personal level.
SMNTY Classics: What is KOSA and Why is it so Scary?
Q: What are the potential real-world impacts discussed?
Potential impacts include mandatory age verification, government ID linkage to online activity, preemptive blocking of discussions on sensitive topics, and reduced access to support resources like suicide prevention services.
SMNTY Classics: What is KOSA and Why is it so Scary?
Q: Who are the key sponsors and what concerns do activists raise about their intent?
Key sponsors include Senator Blackburn and Senator Blumenthal; activists argue their backing aligns with broader anti-LGBTQ+ and restrictive information policies, portraying it as protection while enabling censorship and data surveillance.
SMNTY Classics: What is KOSA and Why is it so Scary?
Q: What is COSA and why is it controversial?
COSA is the Kids Online Safety Act, framed as protecting kids online, but the hosts argue it could lead to censorship, increased surveillance, and reduced access to information, especially around LGBTQ+ topics and mental health resources.
