Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Aaron Williams - University of Illinois Champaign
Q: What advice would you give to someone that wants to be in a high-level performance setting?
Seek out mentors, do your research, and volunteer your services to gain experience in sports medicine.
Strength Coach Series - Chris Martin: LSU Baseball
Q: How do you define success as a strength coach?
Success is measured by wins and losses, focusing on athletes returning to baseline performance post-rehabilitation.
Strength Coach Series - Chris Martin: LSU Baseball
Q: What's one thing that you think rehab practitioners could have a better understanding of regarding your role?
A well-run return to play process should be strength and conditioning led and medically supported, where the strength coaches become the experts in the performance field as athletes transition back to play.
Corey Rodrigo - Carolina Panthers
Q: How does your role and your mindset change when you guys are in season versus when you guys are in the off season?
During the season, from a rehab standpoint, you feel more pressure for timelines because of the expectations from staff and management, while the off season is typically more predictable with fewer new injuries.
Corey Rodrigo - Carolina Panthers
Q: What are some skills that you think are absolutely essential for someone that needs to work on a high-performance team?
For me, I think number one is communication, right? You have to be a good communicator, and you have to do that between yourself and the athletes, yourself and the rest of your staff, the coaches, and all the other people in the organization.
