Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 70: The Lester Staite interview
Q: How did you end up leaving the club?
I was called in and told they didn't want me. It was abrupt, with little explanation or parental involvement, which led me to pursue education and a different life path outside professional football.
Episode 70: The Lester Staite interview
Q: What was your experience like as a youth player at Coventry City?
It was a tough, unstructured environment with a lot of hard work and little formal support. We trained, did kit duties, and were far from the welfare and development structures you see today; many talented players didn't have contracts and faced uncertainties.
Episode 70: The Lester Staite interview
Q: Where did it all start for you, Lester?
I started playing football around nine, and soon after joined Coventry City's youth system where I got involved with the schoolboy teams and early competitions, even though there was no formal contract or welfare structure at the time.
