  • Is Awesomest a word?

I started listening to this show right after my multi-diagnosis became official. Because of the topics covered and the Discord channel I now know what direction to take my career and how I can live confidently. These guys are just the Awesomest.

One of my favourite podcasts. I love the interesting interviews the guys have with guests and how they help people share their experience with sickness with a balance of seriousness and levity or comedy at the same time.

  • Not currently a safe space for chronically ill and disabled folks

I came here as a chronically ill disabled person looking for a safe community space.

Sadly, like in so many of the vanishingly few spaces made available to us, I quickly come across uncritical promotion of pseudoscience - in this instance, telepathy (yes, telepathy.) via an interview with the no-longer licensed, previously investigated, former medical practitioner Dianne Powell.

When I see a show promoting someone with a background as questionable as this, especially when they are speaking o... more

  • Crude but informative

The earliest episodes are rough. Generally, the conversations are crude with too much profanity but they are also informative. Occasionally, the hosts seem intoxicated from substance use so the interviews are difficult for a sober person to understand.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

One Black Man’s experience in Battling Cystic Fibrosis
Q: What was your experience when you first heard about Trikafta and the possibility it could help you?
Nick explains that he is not eligible for Trikafta due to his two rare mutations, which means he won't benefit directly from the modulator, but he expresses a nuanced joy for friends who may gain time and improved quality of life, while recognizing his own ongoing challenges.
Arguing With "Dr. Dickhead" At The Transplant Clinic | 8 Autoimmune Diseases
Q: What is the most challenging disease on your list and why?
Primary sclerosing cholangitis is the hardest because it targets the bile ducts and can persist or recur even after a liver transplant, making the disease feel never fully resolved.
My Brain Exploded (Twice) | Sunken Bone Flap Syndrome
Q: What was rehab like the first time around, and how did it compare to the second time around?
Rehab was grueling and slow, with cognitive and physical gains being incremental; after the second aneurysm and meningitis, the setback with sunken bone flap syndrome worsened recovery before improvements gradually emerged again.
My Brain Exploded (Twice) | Sunken Bone Flap Syndrome
Q: What happened to you in the moment of the first aneurysm, medically and personally?
Martin describes a突然 rupture of an AVM leading to a coma, intensive rehab, and the long, disorienting process of coming back to function while dealing with new limitations.
Dating a Psychologist with Cerebral Palsy (It’s a Mindf*ck)
Q: Oftentimes, people who are managing a disability, the world of dating can feel like it's not meant for them—how have you approached dating and building self-confidence in that space?
Dating starts with self-acceptance; if you're secure in who you are, you can show up as yourself and navigate judgment more easily, using the challenges as a catalyst to develop compatibility and resilience.
