  • Amazing… But what about uptown?

Hooked on this series! It’s not often that you hear or see how this system works in Black and Brown communities from a Black and Brown perspective. Growing up in the Bronx, I would love to see Season 3 highlight how this system has disenfranchised our students uptown, and how students, parents, and school communities are struggling to do right by our families uptown. Our story as Bronxites is never told in a way that inspires change.

  • The Bronx?

I’m looking forward to hearing a series dedicated to the history of the school system in The Bronx New York. We now know that the reading programs that teachers were trained to teach to students how to read with are not effective. Our black and brown and immigrant children have suffered generations of poor teaching practices in reading according to recent research. It’s a good way to share the issue with loved ones who are interested or new people coming up in the field of education. It renewed my spirit and drive to strive towards policy change. Bottom line, we need to change the way schools are funded. It’s basically blatant neglect at thi... more

  • History let’s us see what doesn’t work!

Listening to this show helps you understand a little more why bussing and current school integration plans don’t work. All public schools should have equity in resources, and you can’t integrate a school if you don’t integrate the neighborhood. Redlining has to stop!
