Fantastic. This story made me question why we often label blue collard workers as “less than”. They make an honest living providing for their family, still we often get these stories of blue collard workers telling their kids that they shouldn’t have to do such physically straining labor. I’m grateful to have heard Jon’s story - this gave me perspective on creating a job you care about! 💜

  • 💯If you love Latino USA & This American Life

You’ll love “Quién Are We” which is distinctive from those two, ie, the focus of QAE is on May Ortega’s conversations with individual people. You get the microcosm of an individual Latine person which gives you nuance at the same time that you also have a window onto the broader Latine culture. May is a natural conversationalist and has a great voice for radio. I look forward to more of this show!
