  • Too many ads

I enjoy the content of the podcast, however the amount of ads for how long each episode is, is way too much. I feel as though we spend more time listening to ads rather than the content. I came to listen to YOU—not to be sold something every few mins. I understand that’s how you are paid, I think there should be a better balance….

The ads on this show are absolutely ridiculous and they ruin the messaging you’re trying to get a crossed

  • The Ads are HORRIBLE

I am a long time Latino USA listener (at least since 2017!). I truly value the stories told and elevated by the Futuro Studios team. However, my listening really fell off when the new ads started. I understand that the show needs to be financially stable, but if the Apple Podcast app says an episode is 28 minutes, the actual time is closer to 40 minutes because of the volume of ads. Also, many of the ads do not seem aligned with the values of the show. They really cheapen it!

  • This is not a podcast anymore, just ads!

I used to love Latino USA. Now when I listen it’s literally half advertisements. I’ll probably stop listening as a podcast and just wait to listen on my local npr station.

  • Mexican by choice

Maria Muchas gracias for this episode. I laughed and teared up listening to the show. It shot me like an arrow to the heart. Being a 1st generation Mexican American, I also feel I’m brown like molé but thank you for the positive push an inspiration to go become a dual citizen. Xoxo

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

'We're Leaving': Choosing to Self-Deport Under Trump 2.0
Q: How does the episode suggest listeners can influence immigration policy or enforcement practices?
The host and guest emphasize journalism's role in informing the public and encouraging civic action, noting that public opinion, advocacy, and congressional oversight can prompt policy changes and better detention standards.
'We're Leaving': Choosing to Self-Deport Under Trump 2.0
Q: What is driving the current surge in attention to detention conditions and what does Caitlin Dickerson see as the most urgent issues?
Dickerson points to deteriorating health care access for detained children, prolonged detention beyond federal court limits, and profit-driven incentives in private facilities that undermine humane treatment, urging listeners to focus on the human cost and policy levers that could improve standards.
'None of Us Are Safe in the United States Right Now': A Roundtable on Press Freedom
Q: José, alarms are being raised here in the United States, but all across the Americas, right? What can you tell us about what CPJ has documented about press freedoms in the Americas and how that impacts what's happening here in the United States?
CPJ notes that a regional pattern of governments using regulation and the law to persecute journalists is expanding. If trends continue, reporters self-censor, information gaps grow, accountability erodes, and democracy becomes less transparent as a result.
Julieta Venegas on Her New Music, Embracing Her Roots, and Mexican Dads
Q: Your move to Mexico City, what did you think at the time, and how do you feel about it years later?
I felt I had to be in that place and to reach more people, not just family and friends, and now I understand that move as a pivotal step in finding a broader audience and a deeper musical identity.
'Being There Was Torture': Journalist Estefany Rodríguez on Her ICE Detention
Q: What was it like to be detained after you were a journalist reporting on ICE activities?
Estefany describes a drastic shift where her work made her a target; she details dehumanizing conditions, isolation, and the emotional toll, while highlighting the threat to press freedom.
